Growing Self-Esteem

Here is a submission from a patient after a mirror exercise.

What is Self-Esteem?

Self-EsteemSelf-esteem is something that someone feels about themselves. Whether it is negative or positive. To me Self-esteem is for me to be able to walk into a room and not be afraid of what others might think of me. Another example is for me to be able to look at myself and actually believe I am beautiful no matter what anyone tells me. Self-esteem is confidence. On a daily basis I bash myself on how fat I am or how ugly I look that particular day. Also I don’t have enough self-esteem to tell people no or to stand up for myself. I think having low self-esteem and being so negative really makes me unattractive to each sex whether it is a friend or partner (husband, boyfriend, opposite sex). I really wish I had self-esteem like a lot of people do. One of my goals at the end of treatment is to have a greater appreciation of myself and to be able to stand up for myself in a positive way. Self-esteem is going to help me be happier and that’s all I want to be, happy and clean.
