Family Weekend – A Parent's Perspective
Dear Wellington Retreat,
The family weekend was an eye opener.
I now have a much better understanding of the treatment my son is receiving and I am confident that he is in the right place.
Being exposed to the process during the Community on Saturday was enlightening, but what I most valued was the Sunday session. The information shared helped me to more fully understand what is going on and more importantly, why. As I said and as quite a few in the group agreed, we vacillate between blind faith, partial informational acceptance and doubt whether our loved ones are receiving what they need. Your website paints a pretty picture, but a talented web site designer can make an out house look good. There is an ad campaign running now in which on of the characters is convinced that everything she sees on the internet is true. In the end she meets a guy she found on the internet who is a French model. Some dork walks up and says “bonjour” in a lousy French accent and away she goes with him. So, without an explanation of what you do, how you do it and why you do it the way you do it, it’s not hard to be skeptical from the outside looking in.
I now am at peace regarding my son’s treatment at Wellington Retreat. It’s a special place that is trying hard to master an industry that has no concrete standards.
I think what you are doing is cutting edge, compassionate, and open minded.
I didn’t think that when I woke up Saturday morning.
