“The part can never be well unless the whole is well.” -Plato
Wellington Retreat does not merely believe in healing one part of the body, but instead healing the body as a whole for ultimate rehabilitation and overall health. Upon admission, a physical examination is completed in order to understand all aspects of a patient’s need for recovery.
Weight Hygiene and Nutrition
Maintaining a healthy weight through the right diet and exercise is an important part of everyone’s overall health. Not only does is promote prevention of many diseases and conditions, but it also boosts mood and increases energy. Feeling good physically and mentally relies on a combination of nutrition and physical activity. Together, it can help reduce anxiety and depression and promote a healthy night’s sleep. Exercise has long been known to relieve symptoms of schizophrenia, as well as increase self-esteem. Wellington Retreat offers its patients healthy gourmet meal plans and top-notch exercise equipment and trainers.
Quitting smoking is a difficult task when a person is conquering mental illness or substance abuse. Therefore, Wellington Retreat’s smoking cessation program encourages this change in a comfortable and gradual way. This program is not only for patients who smoke cigarettes, but all inhaled substances, legal or not. This program helps to create a foundation to build a quitting mentality. With the use of group sessions, visual imagery and various replacement medicines (the nicotine patch, NRT gum, or bupropion) patients are able to successfully quit their habit.
Through Wellington Retreat’s Work-Life Balance Program, patients will learn how to understand and rank priorities in their life when it comes to work, family, and social activities. It is unhealthy to place too much emphasis within one category, as all need to keep a healthy balance within an individual’s life in order for all to run smoothly. For example, being a workaholic may cause disconnect with your family. At Wellington Retreat, individuals learn how to manage their time, seek out good opportunities, empower themselves, and increase their support system.
